thelatest_superbowlWho Dat? None other than the New Orleans Saints. After a very exciting Super Bowl between them and the Indianapolis Colts, the Saints were led to a 31-17 victory in what was considered “one of pro football’s most thrilling title games.” This was the Saint’s first Super Bowl victory ever. The Super Bowl XLIV opened with Jay-Z’s “Run This Town” video performance featuring The Rutgers Symphony Orchestra. The game also featured Queen Latifah who sang “America the Beautiful,” as well as Carrie Underwood who sang the National Anthem. Legendary band, The Who, performed at this year’s halftime show with their five-song, 12-minute set that left people standing to their feet. There was even a Michael Jackson tribute performed by the FAMU Marching 100, who made its fifth appearance in a Super Bowl. They played a medley of MJ tunes prior to the Saints and Colts taking the field. While there were many upset Colts fans, The Colts’ center Jeff Saturday and the rest of the Colts accepted their defeat. “Bottom line, those guys made the plays — the onsides kick, the interception, the return — and we didn’t,” Saturday said. “They flat out outplayed us.”  Saints’ MVP, Drew Brees had this to say regarding the Saint’s win:”We just believed in ourselves and we knew that we had an entire city and maybe an entire country behind us,” Brees said. “What can I say? I tried to imagine what this moment would be like for a long time and it’s better than expected.”
