So much fun and merriment I’ve had! It’s hard to recap an entire month in one swoop, but I’ll do my best. And as for pics, well, my camera is on it’s last leg. I really need to get another one. Relying on people to do how I do with the snap-o-rama is frustrating at the least. For those who want to know what the Dame Dizzle has been up to for the last 30 days, read on…
No doubt about it, I am an admirer and supporter of Minneapolis’ home grown talent, Brother Ali. That’s why I’m tickled beige to find his new video, “Take Me Home” over at the DC based (soon to be world wide) SOULBOUNCE.COM.
It’s a great video if you ask me. Once again, Ali makes it clear that he is ‘everyday people’ and far removed from the ballerific stereotypes you find on the radio and in alot of other videos. I also dig the vid because I recognize everyone in the backdrop (shouts to the cast!) as well as the various locations it was filmed — one of them being a Minneapple classic, the Band Box Diner.
A little bit of 612 Trivia: The Box Band Diner was also featured in way back in the diz-ay on Alexander O’Nealand Cherrelles 80’s hit video, Innocent. 20 years later, it’s still a ‘cut’ in my book. Good music done the Midwestern way. Gimme some MORE!
Stillwater, MN. is the gem of small towns. Victorian mansions (once owned by lumber barons), an irresistible mix of cozy inns and a historic downtown laced with antique shops, bookstores and art galleries (that lure collectors from all over the world) are all part of its appeal.
The perfect girlfriends' get-a-way/lovers lane/ scenic backdrop for enjoying ones solitude — there is something there for all those seeking the simple life. This past weekend ya girl Angelique made the most of my small town experience. I did a whole lot of nothing and loved every minute of it. No stress, no strain, just a leisurely stroll in the company of Mother Nature, and some good old fashioned Midwest livin'. The only thing I found to be disappointing is that I didn't have more time to window shop and sample every flavor at Browns Ice Cream Parlor.
Saucy words — years of ranting, raving, testifying and a little bit of signifying (but I aint no monkey), archived for the enjoyment and the annoyment (I made that word up) of all. Consider the following the chronicles of a slightly “touched” (in the head) woman residing in the ‘Minneapple’ (yours truly). Life is a hustle. Sometimes you gotta cut loose and get thangs up-off-of-your-chest. You gotta blow that ish ouuut. Ya feel me? (more…)
