I’m Guilty and So Are You!
Why is it that black women hate on each other? Why do we always seem to find ways and reasons to put each other down? I’m guilty and so are you!
We gossip, we criticize, we hate. But why?
Recently, I’ve paid more attention to the amount times i’ve been with my girlfriends and we’d start talking about another female.
A female walks confidently into a room and all eyes are on her. The men are admiring her but the women are picking her apart.
Is it that we view her as competition? She is no more our competitor than any man or woman of another race.
Is it jealousy? A woman believes she is superior to another woman if she is more attractive. So once a seemingly more attractive woman enters the room, do we feel inferior? Threatened? Scared that this attractive woman will come in and take everything we have worked so hard for. Our friends? Our job? Or our man?
We are our own worst enemies. Because we view each other as threat, a woman who is younger and cuter invokes the fear that she can steal our lives.
We are judged at a social level, by the characteristics we have little control over. (i.e. physical appearance) “She can’t see how to beat her rival because her rival is in more control of the outcome than she is.”
We also need to stop blaming other women for our men’s fidelity.
