Real Exercise for Real Health

Real Exercise

Real Exercise consists of moving your body in a natural and healthy way. If you perform any type of activity that does not feel natural or healthy, stop doing it. Real Exercise will consist of moving your muscles in a way that makes the blood pump through your body.

Blood carries nutrients from that Real Food you eat and spreads it through out your body to all of the necessary organs. The body absorbs those nutrients and then creates a Real Body with Real Health. The blood also pumps the nutrients to any injury within the body which helps to heal the injury quicker. That's why some forms of exercise can speed up healing of some injuries.

Real Exercise is done in a safe and healthy way. Real Exercise is exercise that you find enjoyable. Find a type of exercise that makes you feel good. Studies have shown that when people participate in exercises that they enjoy, they are more likely to stick with it.

Real Exercise is beneficial to the body at any time of day. Morning exercisers, however, tend to experience a few extra benefits. Exercising in the morning gets blood and oxygen into your body which helps wake your body up. Exercising in the mornings also gets your blood and oxygen to your brain. This makes your brain think more clearly.

Studies have shown that morning exercisers are also more likely to stick with their exercise program. If you're not a morning person, don't let that stop you. If you are an afternoon or early evening exerciser, go for it. Any exercise at ?any time is a good thing. Note: Because exercise stimulates the blood, brain and body, exercising too late at night can cause sleep difficulties.

2-Way Exercise

2-Way Exercise is a program that I have designed to work your body and your brain. The first component of 2-Way Exercise is to exercise your body in a physical sense. The second component is to exercise your brain in a mental sense.

Real Physical Exercise includes cardio and weight-bearing exercise. Cardiovascular exercise (or cardio) creates Real Health for your cardiovascular system. Weight-bearing exercises create Real Health for your bones and muscular system.

Real Cardio creates Real Health by pumping blood, improving lung capacity and strengthening your heart. To create Real Cardio, choose from any number of exercises. These range from aerobics, cycling, race walking, running, hiking, kickboxing, etc.

Real Weight-bearing Exercising creates a stronger skeletal system. Weight-bearing exercise creates better bone density. The impact of the weight on your bones compacts the bone tissue. Once the bone tissues are compacted, the bones become denser and stronger.

Real Weight-bearing Exercise also strengthens your muscular system. The weight of your body (or weights you lift) improve the strength of your muscles. Weight-bearing Exercises can include anything from weight-lifting to running. Any type of exercise that includes weights, the weight of your body or resistance of gravity is considered weight-bearing exercise.

Strength-training strengthens your muscles and bones through free weights, weight machines, bands, stability ball, etc. These types of exercises create resistance. Resistance is when your muscles fight gravity. When your muscles pull against the force of gravity, you increase your strength.

Real Mental Exercise

Real Mental Exercise is the other component to 2-Way Exercise. Real Mental Exercise is about exercising your brain while you exercise. I am not talking about reading a book or magazine while you sit on a stationary bike.

The Real Mental Exercise I am talking about is a way of empowering your mind, self-esteem, and confidence. This can all be done as you also empower your body.

The way I look at it...

"A strong mind creates a strong body."

"It starts in the mind first, and the body follows."

To create a strong mind, start talking. Tell your incredible body how strong it is. How powerful it is... How healthy it is... How lean it is... How fast it is.

Tell it anything and everything that is positive and healthy. Tell it and it will become it. Even if you don't believe it at first...keep it up. Your brain will get used to hearing and thinking those powerful words and will start to believe it.

Think it. Say it. Hear it. BECOME it.

Mental Cardio

If you are on the treadmill running, you will develop a rhythm. As you run, come up with a mantra. (i.e. For example, tell yourself... "I am lean, strong and healthy... I am lean, strong and healthy... I am lean, strong and healthy."

Say this one (or one that fits you and your goals) over and over again. As you say it, the words will flow right into your rhythm. This empowers your ?brain, body and mind. It also makes the time on the treadmill go by quickly.

Mental Weight-Lifting

If you are lifting weights in the mirror, pick 5-10 different affirmations about yourself and your goals. What is it you want to be? Make it positive and healthy.

This is like healthy food for your brain, mind and self-esteem. Instead of counting repetitions when lifting weights, affirm yourself. Affirm your health, your strength, your power, etc. You can even affirm intangibles like success, honesty, commitment, etc. Here are some examples of what to say as you lift weight while looking in the mirror. "I am a powerful, successful and healthy woman." That affirmation takes up 5 repetitions if you split it up. (Say it twice and you've got 10 reps....3 times and you've got 15 reps.)

Rep #1 "I am"... Rep #2 "a powerful"... Rep #3 "successful"... Rep #4 "healthy".... Rep #5 "woman."

So... pick 3 words to describe your incredible self ... Then add... "I am" in front... and "woman" or "man" at the end. I am a powerful, successful, healthy woman."

If this is too much to think about....just say one descriptive word with each repetition. Make sure you say "I am" at the beginning and that they are positive and healthy words. Remember...don't tell yourself what you don't want to be.... ?Tell yourself what you DO want to be !

Tip: Look yourself in the left eye as you say these affirmations. If you are in a crowded gym and are feeling a bit self-conscious, say the affirmations to yourself. Even if you say them quietly... Just forming the words... Thinking the thoughts ... And hearing it will make an impact on your brain...and your body.

Remember, anytime you say or even think a negative thought about your body or self...your brain records it. Each time your brain hears or thinks that negative thought, it makes a stronger and stronger imprint in your brain. The neurons in your brain brand that thought stronger and deeper each time you think it or say it.

The same goes for positive healthy talk. Tell your incredible self that you are intelligent, strong and healthy. The neurons will make that imprint on your brain stronger and deeper each time you say it and think it.

Think strong. Talk strong. BE strong.
